Wiebe Draijer, Chair of the Supervisory Board of Ahold Delhaize, said: “We are pleased to nominate Margaret as CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia and member of the Management Board. As Brand President of Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall, and previously in her role at bol, she has consistently demonstrated the ability to connect Group strategy with the strengths of Ahold Delhaize’s local brands. I would also like to thank Claude Sarrailh for his leadership and contributions to Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia. I am confident that, together with her colleagues across the region, Margaret will continue to deliver on our Growing Together strategy for customers, associates and shareholders.”
Margaret stated: “I am honored by the nomination to serve as CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia. Ahold Delhaize’s local brands have strong positions in their markets and deep roots in the communities they serve. I would like to thank Claude Sarrailh for his mentorship. He has been of great value to Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia and I will be building on the foundations he has laid. I look forward to working with my colleagues and their teams across Europe and Indonesia to build a stronger, more connected European platform, while continuing to unlock the unique strengths of our great local brands. Together, we will further enhance the customer experience, accelerate omnichannel growth and continue delivering sustainable value for customers, associates and shareholders.”
To ensure a smooth transition, Margaret and Claude Sarrailh, currently CEO of Ahold Delhaize Europe & Indonesia, will work closely together during September ahead of Claude’s departure at the end of that month. Ahold Delhaize has initiated succession planning for Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall & Gall and will share more information at a later date. Until such time, Margaret will retain overall accountability for the Albert Heijn, Etos and Gall&Gall brands, supported by strong existing leadership teams.
